Dates for our fabulous festival of storytelling here in Bristol next year have been agreed.

February 18th – February 23rd 2014

The Festival is moving to February half-term so that we can expand our programme of family storytelling events.

We’re also hoping to attract more storytellers from around the country who want to showcase new and experimental work – and since storytellers are so busy in National Storytelling Week, having the festival a little bit later will help.

There’s extra good news –  we won’t be clashing with Bristol Ferment or Bristol Slapstick Festival any more – so no more having chose between the three programmes events in one week!

The new Creative Director is Kat Quatermass, a storyteller, consultant and arts manager who moved to Bristol in 2012. Kat comes to BristolStoryFest fresh from a year as Festival Manager at Beyond the Border – Wales International Storytelling Festival.

She’s determined to make sure everyone’s favourite events go from strength to strength and lots of new ideas get developed alongside. Like everybody else involved in organising the festival she’ll be working as a volunteer – but has long term goals that will see funding sourced for key elements of festival development work as well as fees for artists improved.

BristolStoryFest will become a project of Swirl of Stories Ltd – a not for profit community investment company that is being created to run a number of storytelling initiatives.
